Winter 2025 Table Talk
It is winter and Minnesota weather has been giving us subzero, this past week. Some days, I have 3 layered top, 2 layered pants, a glove and other outer layers. Some days, I have two outer layers and another sitting in my car as emergency and as need may require. But winter is only for a while, summer will soon be here, and the jackets and sweaters would go into the closet. And we will all be happy, peppy again, Yippee! Oh, wait a minute, then fall comes and then winter again. Seasons of life, ups and downs of life. Through the seasons, and ups and the lows of life. I have got a friend who stick closer than a friend, speaks louder than the roar of a lion, and love deeply than a romantic partner. Meet my friend, her first name- Holy, last name- Spirit!

I've Got a Friend
Are you crazy? What a name? You asked! I know what you are thinking. Okay, I will be truthful. My friend told me what you are thinking. My friend teaches me everything including economics, business, and fashion. My friend teaches me what to wear and not to wear. My friend comforts me when I am sad. My friend remembers my name and pays attention to my birthdays and feelings. I was so surprised to see a gift delivered to my doors days before my big day.

This friend of mine goes with me everywhere without being detected. Of course, because my friend is a Spirit, he can permeate through walls. My friend can hover on waters. You remember last winter, when I talked about Walking on waters: Faith for navigating uncharted territory, that was my friend's idea. As crazy as that sound, I actually did! Because my friend does not only give me instruction, but she also gives me the power to follow the instruction to my desirable destination. My friend speaks to people on my behalf. My friend changes the protocols in my favor. My friend influences the process for my comeback. Meet my friend, the Holy Spirit!
I've Got a Friend! It takes a lot of believe in oneself to befriend a spirit. It takes a whole lot of confidence to believe that a human being can engage with the divine and still remain human. It takes faith to believe that a man can be born without the natural process and be called sons and daughters of God. That is where the Holy Spirit comes in.

Who is the Holy Spirit?
Some call it a bird; some call is fire! some call it an advocate; some call it an arbiter. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity. In the one-in-three persons, we have God the Father, God the son, and God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God. At creation, the Holy spirit was present. Whenever you see a strange manifestation of God, like an axe that float (see 1Kings 6), the Holy Spirit is involved. Whenever, God's mandates needs to be executed, the Holy spirit is present. The Holy Spirit, the revealer! Before salvation, we are people. It is the Holy Spirit that makes us sons and daughters of God. When Nicodemus asked how one can be born again in John 3. Jesus, said, it is by being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can only reproduce other humans, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.

So here are my thoughts....
The Holy Spirit is a Person
A person is a being who has certain capacities or attributes such as reason, feeling, judgement of morality, consciousness, and reactions. This is why you can have an intelligent conversation with the Holy Spirit and feel like you are talking to someone that is physically present. Because the Holy spirit is a person, he is a friend. You can read the slides for more.
The Holy Spirit is a Spirit
Of course, He is a Spirit. What is a spirit? A spirit is the non-corporeal essence of living things. A spirit is intangible and can move without a body. A spirit can exist on any surface just the way the Spirit of God hover over the waters in Genesis 1: 2. Because the Holy Spirit is a spirit, He is the Chief influencer.

The Holy Spirit is a Presence
A presence is an aura, a vibe, a state, or fact of existing or occurring or being present in a place or thing. Because the Holy Spirit is a present, He takes up the body of whoever carries her presence.
The Holy Spirit is Power
Power is the ability to do something or act in a particular way especially as a faculty or quality. Power is the capacity to direct or influence the behaviors of others. Power is energy to affect an outcome. Because the Holy Spirit is power- He is the Chief Executor of the will of God. Anywhere you see a miraculous, the Holy Spirit is present!

The Holy Spirit is a Promise
A promise is a declaration or assurance that one will do a particular or that a particular thing will happen. Because the Holy Spirit is a promise, the in-filling of the Holy Spirit requires waiting patiently in unity.
And the Holy Spirit implements God's Purpose on earth..

I think that is enough for the first week. I would like to hear from you. Who is the Holy Spirit to you? Drop yours in the comment
Winter Table Talk is an annual bible study organized by The How Platform during the Winter months that focuses on a topic. 2025 is the year of the Holy Spirit.
